Hi,

The Design view should give you the error you mentioned above. That’s because it is not a browser. However your browser (when previewed using Preview in browser or F12) should display the video. Do you get an ActiveX warning (on the top of the browser)? If yes, just click on it and say ‘Allow’. You can permanently disable this warning too. Read this ‘Disable the ActiveX warning on your web page in Microsoft Expression Web‘.

If the issue persists, then could you post the code for the video over here. That would help me analyze. Thanks!

Hello, We used to have an embedded video on the homepage of our website that was hosted by Motion Box. However, as that site closed down this week I've had to search for an alternative video hosting site. I decided to go with Vimeo. So I uploaded the video onto the site, copied the embed code, and pasted it into the code section of the webpage (I use Microsoft Expression Web 3). However, instead of a player and a working video, I got the error message: "A control type was not specified or the specified type could not be found". And on the actual webpage, I've just been left with a black box that doesn't do anything. I'm not massively techie, so I don't really know what to do. Any ideas how can I make this work?

Hey,

You can try putting the youtube video inside a div and then position the div wherever you want. I hope this helps. If you still have any doubts, post them with details.

Hi Min,

You may have to install Adobe FlashPlayer (your browser prompts for the plugin to be installed) if you are not able to view the video. Install the same and this should resolve the issue.

If it still persists, write back with any error message and specifications of the browser you are using.

Hi,

I’have tried your technique but I am not able to see my video when I web preview it. What do I have to do to make it work? Do I have to change something in the code? I am not in IT and have no idea what to do. I need to submit this project for class.

Hi Scott,

You have not mentioned the error message in your comment. However, when I open the url (http://floridacampersguide.com/), I can see the youtube video just below the text ‘Life is good’.

If you are still unable to get it, please do write back with the error message.
