Magic Eraser in Photoshop

The Magic eraser works just like the Magic Wand Tool except that Magic wand selects an area, Magic Eraser converts the area into transparent pixels. In this tutorial, we will discover the Magic Eraser in Photoshop.

Magic Eraser works well with images having simple and solid color background. The areas to be erased are controlled by tolerance and contiguous options of magic eraser. Hence with every click magic eraser will erase all the pixels falling within the tolerance range. Where for a solid background one click and the background is erased, with a background that has vibrant colors or too many shades, the magic eraser would not fair well. You can use the Background Eraser Tool for such images.

1. Open the image with a background. I am using the ‘Tulips.jpg’ that comes default with Windows 7. It has a simple background with fewer shades of blue.
